About Sean Madden

Founder of Elevator Strategic Hub

Sean Madden founded Madden Elevator Company and served as CEO for 13 years. Following in his father’s footsteps, Sean has spent over 35 years in the elevator industry performing a variety of roles. Sean has served as a field technician and in management roles for independently owned and private equity corporation. He served as President of Abell Elevator Corporation before starting his own company in 2010. Sean and his wife Susie started the company out of their basement with zero capital, zero customers, zero income, and a dream to run and grow a respectful, dependable, and reliable elevator company. They succeeded and recently sold to American Elevator Group in June of 2022.

Sean was fortunate to have a perfect growth progression in the elevator industry. While attending college for electrical engineering, he serviced elevators on the beaches of Daytona out of a Jeep CJ5 with his late father, Ron Madden. He spent a third of his career in the field in various roles in service, installation, MOD repair, adjustor, and eventually a technical troubleshooter. In the late 1990s, he became a supervisor and later received a role in management, where he spent the second third of his career as an Operations Manager for independently owned companies. He then transitioned one of those companies after selling to a private equity firm - becoming their National Service Manager.

In the last third of his career, he founded Madden Elevator Company. Sean built Madden Elevator from the ground up.  He started as the Owner and Operator until he grew into a more strategic role as the CEO and Strategic Advisor to the Madden Executive Leadership Team. Sean’s success at Madden Elevator is attributed to hard work, but he attributes most of his later business growth and success to his ability to grow as a leader. Sean continually sought knowledge to guide and delegate. This continuous learning allowed him to elevate his skills as a leader. Sean allowed himself to back away from the day-to-day of working in the business. This enabled his ability to work strategically on the business. This new role and renewed spirit allowed him to focus on the future and becoming the company visionary to bust through the ceiling and grow to new heights.

Once he sold Madden Elevator Company, Sean felt his experience as an elevator business owner could benefit other elevator entrepreneurs looking to grow. He wrote a book, Empowering Elevator Business Owners and Entrepreneurs, available at Elevator World, Amazon or Kindle. After selling Madden Elevator Company, he felt compelled to discover his next steps. Pondering an early retirement during his weekend trips to Boca Ciega Bay, Sean knew there had to be more to his journey. While floating on his pontoon boat, Sean had the idea to put his life story on paper—little did he know it would turn into his future in the elevator industry.

Sean wrote about his past, the ins and outs of his elevator experience, and his failures and successes. Most notably—how he almost bankrupt Madden Elevator by losing $1M in a year, to selling that same company for over 2X market value. By putting his thoughts on paper, Sean realized his successes can be attributed to the systems and the framework he created for Madden Elevator Company.

Through writing, he started to see the new vision—paying his knowledge forward to future elevator entrepreneurs. It was at this moment when Sean saw the value his writing could have to others looking to grow a sustainable elevator business. Following the publishing of his new book, Sean founded Elevator Strategic Hub.

Sean has guided many other elevator entrepreneurs, business owners, and leaders to success through his services in Elevator Strategic Hub.

Sean's passion lies in empowering elevator entrepreneurs to reach their full potential. His personal mission for the past 30 years has been to Learn, Teach, Lead, and Empower (LTLE).

Outside of business, Sean enjoys spending time traveling with his wife, family, and friends. If you know his wife Susie, she keeps him hopping and in line.

Additionally, Sean enjoys reflecting on his pontoon boat floating on the waters in Florida—where he wrote his 1st book. When they are not in Florida or traveling, you can find him relaxing in the woods on 45 acres in Kentucky, or traveling to the mountains for some side-by-side four-wheeling adventures with his buddies.
